#3 — Eli Manning, New York Giants

Look, there’s no denying that Manning has put together a very nice career. He has won two Super Bowls, amassed over 48,000 career passing yards, and tossed 320 touchdown passes in 13 seasons.

But he’s also thrown the ball to guys like Jeremy Shockey, Plaxico Burris, Amani Toomer, Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr. When you have that kind of a group of receivers to throw to, of course you’ll look good.

Manning saw a major regression last season. He finished number 22 out of 30 qualified QBs last season in passer rating with an 86. In fact, if we go by the ESPN quarterback rating, he drops even further to number 27 out of 30.

Yes, he threw for a lot of yards, but he wasn’t as effective as he’s been in the past.He did have his fourth consecutive season of at least 4,000 passing yards, but he saw an increase in interceptions and a decrease in touchdowns.

Manning, who turned 36 at the end of the regular season this past January, is no spring chicken. I’d expect his numbers to fall even further in 2017. Expect his ratings to end up somewhere in the range that they did last year. He’ll throw a few more touchdown passes this season thanks to Beckham and the addition of Brandon Marshall. But his interception numbers will go up as well.
