The Dallas Cowboys could be heading into 2018 with substantial salary cap space. The team could go after any of these potential free agent wide receivers.

The Dallas Cowboys could be looking to add some weapons to Dak Prescott’s offensive arsenal in 2018. The Cowboys are currently 15th in salary cap space and should be able to clear up more room before free agency begins. The Cowboys will need a new wide receiver who can be a down the field threat and one of these guys could be the answer.

John Brown (age 27)

TJ Jones (age 25)

Paul Richardson (age 25)

Marqise Lee (age 26)

Danny Amendola (age 32)

Kamar Aiken (age 28)

Taylor Gabriel (age 26)

Sammy Watkins (age 24)

More from Dallas Cowboys

Now we do not know which one (if any) of these players will hit free agency or be released however they could be available by the time the Cowboys are looking for talent in March.

Among the names above are some quality veterans that could help the Dallas Cowboys sustain drives and take some of the pressure off of Dez Bryant. Danny Amendola is a former Dallas Cowboy and could be an intriguing option if the New England Patriots allow him to hit free agency.

Amendola is a great possession receiver who has the ability to be a deep threat. Kamar Aiken and John Brown are also players who fit that secondary role. Brown could be an absolute steal on the open market and could be the deep threat the Dallas Cowboys have been searching for.

There are also some young players who could easily step into a bigger role with this team than they have previously seen in the NFL. Taylor Gabriel is one of the fastest wide receivers in the league and would likely not command that much money.

He has made some key plays for the Atlanta Falcons and continues to be a threat as a returner. Gabriel could be a cheap and necessary addition to an offense looking for weapons.

Sammy Watkins is likely one of the bigger names on this list and could become a free agent as he has been fairly inconsistent when it comes to production. Watkins could be out of the Dallas Cowboys price range and is figured to be a big part of the Los Angeles Rams plans moving forward.

My favorite name on this list has to be Marqise Lee as he is a big bodied wide receiver who has explosive speed and solid hands. He had a slow start to his NFL career but as the Jacksonville Jaguars have improved so has his production.

He has been the number one wide receiver for the Jaguars this season with the season-ending injury to Allen Robinson. He has had a great season but it may not be enough to get another team to offer him a large contract.

Next: What is wrong with Dez Bryant?

Paul Richardson and TJ Jones could also be free agents and since they are only 25 they have yet to fully reach their prime. Jones has been very productive for the Detroit Lions this season as he has filled in as the third wide receiver in this offense while injuries have affected other players. Richardson continues to be the Seattle Seahawks second starting wide receiver and has some pretty healthy production over the course of the 2017 season.

If the Dallas Cowboys offense is to take the next step in terms of offensive production they need to land a wide receiver who can take some of the coverage off of Dez Bryant and anyone of these players would help tremendously.
