The Dallas Cowboys will have the 19th pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft and with plenty of needs, the team will have a big decision to make.

The 2017 NFL regular season has finally come to a close and the Dallas Cowboys may not have made the playoffs but they have found out what position they will be drafting from. The 2018 NFL Draft is only a couple of months away and Dallas will be sitting at the 19th spot. But what will the Cowboys do with this pick? Let’s explore some of the possibilities.

The Dallas Cowboys have several needs that should be addressed this offseason and the draft will most likely provide the biggest influx of players for this team. The Cowboys have three primary needs heading into the draft, wide receiver, offensive lineman, and linebacker.

More from Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys will likely bring back Demarcus Lawerence but that could mean Anthony Hitchens will be on his way out. Expect Dallas to take a hard look at the best linebackers in this draft as they may have a serious need at the position.

The draft is not that deep at the linebacker position and there are plenty of teams with a need early on in the first round. If that is the case the Cowboys could have better luck with the offensive line position however that may not make as much of a splash as the franchise desires.

Adding another solid tackle or guard could also be accomplished in free agency, and veteran players would likely have an easier time getting into a rhythm with the Dallas O line.

Realistically the Cowboys should shoot for a wide receiver to take this offense to the next level. There is a large class of wide receivers but not all of them are necessarily a complete package when it comes to being the next Julio Jones, AJ Green, type of player.

There are several interesting candidates in terms of top-tier wide receivers of the 2018 draft class. Courtland Sutton out of Southern Methodist is one of the top prospects heading into the combine.

He has the body of an elite NFL wide receiver (6’4, 215 LBS) and has a solid foundation of skills. Another big name heading into the draft will likely be Calvin Ridley out of Alabama.

Depending on how he ranks in terms of speed at the combine, he could easily be a high first-round pick. He is basically the size of Antonio Brown at 5’11, 190 LBS. Ridley also is one of the highest targeted wide receivers in this draft class and managed to reel in a touchdown during his bowl game.

Will he perform like the best wide receiver in the NFL? Only time will tell, however, the Cowboys have to be interested in this young stud. Another interesting name that could fall into the second round is Jaleel Scott from New Mexico State.

He is 6’6 and weighs 215 pounds, if he can become a more consistent pass catcher, he could be a deadly weapon for whatever team drafts him. He also scored a touchdown in his bowl game much like Ridley, and should quickly become a draft sleeper.

The Dallas Cowboys have been known recently to draft in terms of best player available and that mindset should not really change. If one of the best players at the tight end, wide receiver, offensive line, or linebacker positions are available, expect Dallas to jump on those prospects.
