5th Round – Skai Moore – LB – South Carolina

Why would Dallas select an undersized linebacker in the 5th round? Well, Moore has a ton of talent, but in reality he should probably be a safety. He might be better suited as a tweener type, but he could find a home at safety if he can get his coverage skills a little better.

Moore is only 218 pounds but has the speed in coverage and has a nose for the ball. His ability to play two positions could add versatility to a much improved Cowboys team. He should be able to contribute right away on special teams and spot duty in his first season. Watching him, the first thing that jumps out is his speed and agility. He isn’t going to blow up a ton of people, but can get around blocks and cause some problems.

Again the biggest thing is where does Moore really belong? He is small for linebacker, but may not have the ability to play safety for a season or two. He could be depth if nothing else, and if he can find a home position, he could surprise.

This is a hard place to be in at the end of the fifth. You have to find gems but you also don’t need to start reaching for players you think will be undrafted free agents. Moore was one of the top players rated at this point, so we just went with him for upside.
