5. Sammy Watkins

If you’ve seen Sammy Watkins play you probably love the guy. The former 1st round pick is 6’1”, 211lbs, and a proven deep threat. His explosion, speed and strength allow him to score on any route. He can juke and break tackles. He’s everything you want in a No. 1 wide receiver.

That’s why the Buffalo Bills drafted him in the first round and that’s why the Los Angeles Rams traded them for him this past season.

But Watkins hasn’t always been able to stay healthy. That’s why he was traded from Buffalo. And that’s why the Rams probably won’t re-sign him.

Full disclosure: in LA he really didn’t fit well and struggled being a playmaker even when healthy.

At a ripe old age of 24-years old, Sammy Watkins is far from spent in this league. He still possesses many of the skills that made him a great draft pick and he could still blossom into a No 1 receiver for some team in the near future.

Why not the Dallas Cowboys?

The NFL is flooded with WR talent these days meaning Sammy Watkins is unlikely to break anyone’s bank. Considering how young he is, he’s probably willing to take a short deal (1-2 years) to rebound his career and drive up his value for a mega deal down the road.

Another potential bargain on the outside…
