Dallas Cowboys: Top Five Free Agent Receivers to Target
By Reid Hanson
Allen Robinson is a guy many fans aren’t overly familiar with…unless you used to watch a lot of Jacksonville Jaguars before this season. Robinson was a budding young talent on a terrible Jaguar team. Then the first game of the season, he tore his ACL and was lost entirely.
Before he was injured, he was establishing himself as one of the league’s better pass-catchers. The 6’3” 211lbs product of Penn State collected 80 catches in 2015 and 73 catches in 2016. In fact, his 2015 season he had 1,400 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns in that dysfunctional Jags offense.
He’s not a burner by any means but he’s big and he produces big plays. He can run a full route tree and can do so crisply – a sight not often seen around these parts. He has good length and he seems to use it well. He can win battles for the ball, whether that requires positioning on slants, battling on comeback routes, or going up to get the ball.
Best yet, he’s affordable. Much like Watkins, Robinson may be willing to join a team for an opportunity to regain value. Also like Watkins, he’s just 24-years old and could settle for a short low-commitment deal.
