Chad Thomas is a bit of a mystery. Blessed with high level athleticism, Thomas has yet to reach the statistical success many envisioned when he began school at Miami. According to Walterfootball.com, he looks good one play and looks bad the next play. Sometimes he knows what he’s doing and other times he looks lost.

In the game I reviewed he showed a little of that bi-polar play. At times he looked like an NFL prospect and at times he looked “meh”. But since you can’t teach size and athletic ability, Thomas is on every team’s radar.

Standing 6’6” and 275lbs Thomas has strong side edge ability. He’s strong and he’s quick. He has multiple moves but at times he doesn’t use any of them. His focus seems to be all over the place making me think he may need to be a rotational player because playing too many snaps in a row could cause him to drift off.

The good news is he appears to be smart young man. As SBNation’s State of the U pointed out, he’s an artist, a producer, a student, and an athlete. He’s a jack of all trades with many different interests.  Focus may be an issue but it’s not because he’s unintelligent or indifferent.

Additionally, Thomas is a leader amongst his peers, a captain of his team, and steps up in the biggest situations. He’s a big gamer with good personality traits and athletic potential. Not a bad pick in the fifth round.
