Round 4 – Josey Jewell – LB – Iowa

The Cowboys’ linebackers had a severe lack of depth in 2017 due to multiple injuries hitting the unit.  With the possibility of Anthony Hitchens not returning, Dallas could be in serious trouble at linebacker.  Iowa’s Josey Jewell can slide right in alongside Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith.

Over his collegiate career, he racked up 433 total tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, and 6 interceptions.  Jewell was First Team-All Big Ten Defense in 2017.  The strongest part of his game is his tackling.

Jewell also is quite capable of getting to the quarterback.  His pass coverage also is commendable as his interception numbers are not just purely a result of being at the right place at the right time.  He is little small weight-wise compared to other linebackers but they said the same thing about Sean Lee.

The Cowboys’ linebackers struggled at times throughout last season, especially without Sean Lee in the lineup.
