6th Round – Trey Quinn – Wide Receiver – SMU

Yes, you see that right, the Dallas Cowboys go after another wide receiver in this draft. This time they get Courtland Sutton’s teammate and opposite starter, Trey Quinn. Quinn is an incredibly fast receiver who does not mind playing second fiddle to better players.

He is one of the faster, 6-foot wide receivers in this draft and should have a pretty decent showing in the combine. Some analysts would argue that Quinn was so productive because of the fact that defenses were trying to contain Sutton however after watching the tape, that does not appear to be true.

We also cannot glaze over the fact that Quinn was a reliable target and had 13 touchdowns in 2017. That is not something the Cowboys can simply ignore, especially considering the fact that Terrance Williams failed to get into the end zone throughout the entire 2017 season.

The alternative pick here is Wieneke as he is another productive wide receiver with some question marks. At 6’4, 215-pounds, he is a fairly big receiver who has had pretty consistent production for South Dakota State.

He is averaging around 1,000 plus yards a season and compiled a ridiculous 16 touchdowns during his 2017 season. A productive showing in the combine could drive his draft stock up tremendously.

He will struggle to be taken seriously with the other elite receivers in this class, but when you look at his numbers and his skill set, they are hard to ignore.

Alternative Pick: Jake Wieneke – Wide Receiver – South Dakota State
