5th Round -Tre’Quan Smith – Wide Receiver – Central Florida

Smith is one of my favorite wide receivers in the 2018 draft and I believe he could be a hidden gem for the Dallas Cowboys. He may not stay hidden long though as his skills should be on full display at the combine.

He has been pretty consistent with getting into the end zone and remained one of UCF’s most dangerous targets throughout the 2017 season. AT 6’1, 205 pounds he is big enough to push around NFL defensive backs and should learn to be a pretty reliable receiver at the next level.

He would be an absolute steal in the fifth. As for the alternative pick, the Cowboys need to acquire a running back at some point this offseason. I do not know if the draft necessarily is the best place to find one but if you are looking for a shifty receiving back (similar to Alvin Kamara or Tarik Cohen) Martez Carter is your guy.

Well, your guy for the fifth round, there are other receiving backs in this draft as well, but he comes at a great value. He has all of the tools to bully his way over defenders but has a solid pair of hands as well.

The Cowboys could do a lot worse in the fifth round than this talented young back. As an added bonus, Carter averaged 5.1 yards per carry in 2017 and 7.7 yards per carry in 2016.

Alternative Pick: Martez Carter – Running Back – Grambling State
