With the 19th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select: Vita Vea, Defensive Tackle, Washington

Vita Vea out of the University of Washington is one of the best defensive linemen in the draft.  The 347 lb defensive tackle would provide an impact right away for the Dallas Cowboys.

In 13 games in 2017, Vea had 3.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss.  He was named first-team All-Pac-12 and won the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year Award.  At the NFL Combine, he showed off his speed and strength as he ran the 40 yard dash in 5.1 seconds and had 41 reps on the bench press.

Stopping the run was a major issue for the Dallas Cowboys defense in 2017.  Lucky for them, Vita is a terrific run defender. His pure size allows him to dominate at the line of scrimmage but his natural talent to track the ball and shut down running lanes makes him standout.

With Maliek Collins not living up to expectations, Vea can come in right alongside David Irving and DeMarcus Lawrence and give the Cowboys a scary defensive line for the first time in years.

Many NFL executives believe Vea will be a very good player at the next level.  Scouts believe he has plenty of untapped potential but with a coach like Rod Marinelli, he would surely to develop into an exceptional player.
