The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for the 2018 NFL draft. Here is a 7 round mock draft for the Cowboys that address all of the team’s needs.

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to add some key playmakers on both sides of the ball. They would like to make the offense more “Dak friendly” and add a potent safety to their defense. In this mock draft, I went in a different direction and focused on how the Cowboys can fill the holes they need without doing something dramatic.

Trades are likely but probably not the ones you would expect. Trading for Earl Thomas is impossible with the Cowboys cap situation this season and he has one year left on his deal with the Seattle Seahawks.

If the Cowboys managed to re-sign Dez Bryant, re-structure Travis Frederick, sign Demarcus Lawrence to a long-term deal, release Orlando Scandrick, and sign Zack Martin to a long-term deal, then the team could potentially make a play for Thomas. An interesting play would be if the Cowboys offered up the number 19 overall pick plus a player such as Terrance Williams or another background player.

With Thomas wanting out of Seattle and the Seahawks getting close to just releasing him a deal could be possible. But for this mock, let’s keep things simple, only draft day trades and finding depth in the later rounds.

I have based these selections off of the Dallas Cowboys pre-draft meetings that have been made available to the public, both formal and informal meetings factored into these selections. The last criteria are really focused on what the Cowboys need in terms of positional depth.
