Round 7 – Foley Fatukasi – Defensive Tackle – UConn

With the end of the draft coming up, teams will look for players they don’t think they will be able to get as an undrafted free agent. I think Fatukasi will either go a little earlier in the draft or will be a priority late. Not many people are talking about Fatukasi, but he has the ability to surprise some people if they look into him.

He has the size and agility to play as a 4-3 defensive tackle or even a 3-4 nose tackle. He actually is better against the pass than he is the run and that is where he could be part of a rotation while he works on that part of his game. Fatukasi is quite strong and at times would even over power a large guard. His first punch is quick and stiff, which allows him to get into the backfield to be disruptive to passing lanes.

Again, Fatukasi will not be the strongest guy against the run, and until he learns to see the ball carrier quicker and react faster, he will be a situational rotational piece. If he can learn to read zone blocks better and shed the blocker he could be a solid starter one day. For now, put him in on obvious passing situations and let him go.

A quarterback could be a possibility here as J.T Barrett and Erik Shimonek are both on the board. I went with a tackle I thought would go somewhere from the fifth round on and showed some flashes.

Wrap-up

So there it is, the one month out mock draft for the Dallas Cowboys. While I do believe there will be some trades in the draft, this gives a look at some players that might be available at different times in the draft. I would not be surprised if they go with a safety earlier than later and a depth quarterback late in the draft. This is a weak draft class for quarterback and offensive line, so teams may reach for some.

I would at the very least expect a quarterback as an unsigned free agent and Shimonek and Barrett would be two I could see fitting with the Dallas Cowboys. Time will tell and there is still more of free agency to come.
