Round 1 – Roquan Smith – Linebacker – Georgia

I think at this point most people know who Smith is. Even with the Dallas Cowboys signing Joe Thomas, they need playmakers at linebacker, not just now, but in the future as well. Smith would make the Cowboys linebacking corps one of the best in the league as long as everyone stays healthy. He would probably be the heir apparent to Sean Lee. Smith can play sideline to sideline well and has the ability to cover tight ends.

The only knock on Smith is his size, but he makes up for it well with his football IQ. Playing along side Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith would allow Roquan to adjust as a rookie and it should help him develop and contribute quickly.

Smith could go as high as ten to the Raiders, but more than a few times it seemed he fell as the Raiders would grab Tremaine Edwards if the Buccaneers went cornerback at seven. The other players that were grabbed were Will Hernandez and Vita Vea. I didn’t go with Ridley as I feel the Dallas Cowboys feel good now about the wide receiver position and would add depth later in the draft.
