Round 2 – Tim Settle – Defensive Tackle – Virginia Tech

It seems that every year the Dallas Cowboys need a defensive tackle and every year they seem to wait to grab one. This could be the year they get one early. If Vita Vea is not the pick in the first round, Tim Settle could be the pick in the second. After grabbing Smith in the first, Settle was sitting there more often than not and was one of the best on the board at this point.

Settle can play just about every position on the defensive line and excels at the 3-technique. Settle is an absolute beast and moves every bit of his 335 pounds around like a man much smaller. He has rare talent for his size to rush the passer from the interior as well as track the ball carrier and uses smart angles to get to him.

The only knock is he will need to work a little on conditioning. He does seem to get gassed at times and carries a little too much weight around the middle. Being part of a rotation like the Cowboys run would allow Settle to look great in his first season. The only other pick that would pop up was D.J. Chark, but most of the time he would go to the Bengals a few picks before.
