Round 4 – Akrum Wadley – Running Back – Iowa

With the need for some depth at running back, round four looked like a solid spot for one. With Alfred Morris moving on the Dallas Cowboys are probably in the market for a third down running back. Wadley fits that role well.

Wadley has some serious agility and highlight plays. Watching him the one thing that stands out is his ability to use that agility to get a few extra yards. He can get to his top gear quickly and makes people miss fairly often. He has good hands as a pass catcher and shows flashes in pass protection. All vital things for a third down back.

Wadley will need to add some size to his legs which will help him in pass protection. Sometimes he uses his agility too much and gets caught in a stutter step instead of making a decision and going. He won’t break a ton of tackles, but will fight for a few extra yards.

Wadley made a lot of sense at this point and was one of the best players available. The other names that had been picked were corners J.C. Jackson and Anthony Averett. All three would make sense here, but Wadley just happened to be available more often.
