Round 6 – Isaac Yiadom – Cornerback – Boston College

When you get to this point in the draft you are looking for one of three things. A project who you think could develop into a quality starter, a rotational piece who plays special teams as well, or a diamond in the rough. Isaac Yiadom could be the last two as much as he could just be a rotational piece. Either way, Yiadom should be able to find a home.

Watching Yiadom he looks like he can play man to man or zone pretty equally. He already plays special teams and is really strong there as a gunner. He hits hard for a corner and will surprise you with his strength when he plays.

Yiadom is a willing tackler, but doesn’t peel off from a block quickly and will get lost in the play. He will need to work on his deep coverage, however, his mid range and short coverage look good. He will get behind a play as he will misjudge routes a little. All fixable, but will need to be part of a rotation as the 4th or 5th corner.

I think at this point depth will be something the Cowboys will look at and Yiadom is a solid depth guy who can add immediately to special teams. The other players available were linebacker Fred Warner and defensive lineman Poona Ford. With back to back picks I went with the highest rated.
