Round 2, Pick 50

Austin Corbett ,OG, Nevada

Going offense-offense in the first two rounds isn’t exactly ideal but the way the draft is shaping up it looks like the Cowboys may be able to get the most bang for their buck this way. They know they can find a couple potential starters at linebacker and defensive tackle in the next few rounds but don’t feel as optimistic about the depth of the offensive line.

In other words – consider this playing to the strengths of the draft rather than prioritizing offense over defense.

Austin Corbett hasn’t been a very hot name in Dallas Cowboys draft talk but he probably should be. Corbett was a durable four-year starter at left tackle for Nevada. The former walk-on built a career on grit and determination. He has that nasty edge you like in an interior lineman and Dallas would be lucky if he was available at 50.

The former Nevada left tackle stands 6’4” and 305lbs but with limited length, figures to transition to guard or center in the NFL. He’s athletic enough to play in Dallas’ zone/trap scheme and rarely makes the kind of mental mistakes that plagued the Cowboys in recent years.

He may not have the Pro Bowl potential of someone like Wynn or Hernandez but he has a high floor and low bust potential. It would be shocking if he wasn’t a Day 1 starter for the Cowboys. Like Moore at WR, he instantly makes the Cowboys better.
