Round 2 – Lorenzo Carter – Linebacker – Georgia

Here is where I think the Cowboys will try to move up. It may not be many spots, but it very well could happen. Carter just kept falling within the Cowboys reach and they decided to use their newly gotten late third rounder to grab a linebacker. After missing out on one of the first round talents, Carter would be a good fill.

Carter has the ability to play just about every linebacker position. Which will help since the Cowboys are desperately looking for a starting quality Mike linebacker. Carter has the ability if he adds some weight to also rush the passer in the NFL. He really is an everything kind of linebacker. He would fill an immediate need, and the Cowboys would not have to give up much in the long run.

Like earlier, Carter would need to add a little weight to his frame. He has good straightline speed and will need a touch of work on footwork, but these are easily fixable. I wouldn’t ask him to start rushing the passer right away, but could sneak in for a sack or two here and there.

The Cowboys give up their additional third round pick, but the return should be a good one.
