Bryce Johnson – Offensive Tackle – St. Cloud State

No, that isn’t Bryce Johnson in the picture, but it was the only picture I could legally use here that showed anything really to do with St. Cloud State. If you want to see what Bryce actually looks like click here. But hey, it is a real school and has a pretty good hockey team apparently.

Okay, seriously, finding tape on Bryce Johnson is not exactly easy, but there is a little if you look hard enough. The first thing that stands out when you watch Johnson is this man is huge. At first I thought it was because he was playing against a lower class of player, then I looked at his stats, he is actually huge. Standing at 6’6” 315 pounds, he is big at any level of football.

He has a pretty good first punch, but needs a lot of work on technique and footwork. But he was part of a very rarely penalized offensive line, and he has played both guard and tackle. He played left tackle, but there is no way he is ready for that in the NFL, but as a guard could find a home. He has a good first slide step and looks to keep blocker in front of him. He will engage to the next level looking for someone to punish.

Johnson has some raw traits that leave no question as to why the Dallas Cowboys decided to take a chance on him. If he can learn quickly and well, he could be a massive surprise (pun certainly intended there). For now, he will be fighting to find playing time, but how he does at the rookie mini camp against better competition will determine if they keep him around.
