Malik Earl – WR – Missouri State

I watched some games with Missouri State in them and one thing I kept seeing out of Malik Earl was that he loved the physical nature of football. He uses his hands well and will fight for passes. He is a bigger receiver who will go up, adjust to the football, and try to do everything to come down with the pass. He won’t wow you, but he is consistent.

Earl will not blow the doors off of any defense. What he will do is fight to get open, try to sell routes, and use his body to shield a defender and make a catch. Without Dez Bryant the Dallas Cowboys are without a bigger bodied receiver who is a threat in the red zone. Michael Gallup looks like he may have been the only one, so the Cowboys brought in Earl after the draft.

Earl could find himself a perfect practice squad player. He has the size and hands that would work well for a scout team, while he works on his craft and getting better. He seems to perform when he needs to and was a team captain. Another “Garrett” type of guy.

It will be interesting to see how he does at rookie mini camp, but I wouldn’t put it past him to make some good catches. He won’t be turning heads for his speed, but might make some acrobatic sideline catches. He should make it to training camp at the very least.
