DeQuinton Osborne – DT – Oklahoma St.

For every Dallas Cowboys’ fan out there who wanted a true 1-technique defensive tackle, I present to you a 5’11” 310 pound man named DeQuinton Osborne. Osborne’s job was to eat double teams and close his gap. He had 44 tackles, 11.5 for a loss, and 6 sacks. Not bad for a guy who isn’t really a guy asked to get up field much.

Osborne doesn’t have the best footwork, nor does he have the best hand technique. What Osborne has is a low center of gravity that is a nightmare for offensive linemen to move. Watching him against Iowa St. showed flashes of what he can be. He was a force in the middle of the line and ate up blockers left and right.

Osborne right now is nothing more than a guy you can throw out there on obvious running situations, but with the right coaching he has some good potential. On running situations his hand usage becomes a little better and he takes on multiple blockers fairly easily. This is something the Cowboys have not had, so Osborne could find himself as a role player. He will need work on conditioning to be anything more than a spot player.
