Jake Campos – Offensive Tackle – Iowa St.

First the good about Campos. Standing at 6’8” 300 pounds, Campos is a really big kid to try to get around. This is probably why he was credited with only one sack given up all season. He looks strong and steady in pass protection and while it might take him a second to get rolling, if he gets in front of a running back, extra yards will be gained. Campos really looks good a lot of the times.

Now, the bad for Campos. I don’t know if it is his attention or technique, but sometimes he will get caught looking either down or elsewhere and allow some pressure from a defensive end. While he does well to recover, he simply can’t do this in the NFL.

Bottom line is Campos fits the “Garrett kind of guy” mold. He carried a 4.0 and was voted as a team captain. He could find himself with coaching a swing tackle in the next year or two. This is the type of offensive lineman you hold on to for depth and try not to let him get away. For now we will say he has a high ceiling if he can work on his lapses. If he can’t fix this, he will be short lived in the NFL.
