Marchie Murdock – WR – Iowa St.

Murdock was a transfer from Illinois and was fairly average there. When he got to Iowa St. he looked better and became a bigger threat. Murdock came from Arlington, TX and has stated that he always carried a chip on his shoulder to prove he was as good as Dallas and Ft. Worth players. Just when you seem to count Murdock out, he works to prove everyone wrong.

This will play well for Murdock, but nothing about him says NFL starter. He uses his body well and runs fairly good routes, but guys like Murdock can be found just about every year. Where Murdock can make a name for himself is he hand really good hands and adjusts amazingly to the ball in the air. He is willing to pick up extra yards and fight for the first down marker.

Murdock will need to work on his strength as he can get muscled by bigger corners. While he uses his hands and body well, isn’t the guy to get a ton of separation and will rely on using his tools to catch in traffic. Murdock could find his way as a fourth receiver, but right now, he is a practice squad player for depth.

If Murdock can prove himself on special teams he could be a guy that sticks around for a year or two, but for now he has a way to go to stay around. He would be a solid depth player, but with all of the pickups from the Cowboys, he might be the odd man out.
