Dallas Cowboys: Who are the top wide receivers on the depth chart?
By Carl Daley
Noah Brown/Cedrick Wilson
Cederick Wilson/Noah Brown: At the end of the day I believe the Dallas Cowboys could end up with seven wide receivers on the main roster. Wilson was one of the most important players at Boise State and is pretty good friends with first-round pick Leighton Vander Esch so it appears he is in a great position to make the 53 man roster.

Noah Brown is one of the Cowboys in-house projects that they have been working on for a while now. Brown was expected to have an inside track on making an impact this season but he currently only has four NFL receptions. If the team integrated him more in 2017 I would expect him to play a bigger role but that just was not the case.
Wilson has already been seen making an impact during OTA’s and has picked up the offense faster than most. Wilson also has a lineage in the NFL as his father played ten seasons in the NFL. So that plus his pension to be a locker room leader and make plays gives him a leg up in the race at wide receiver.
It will be a toss up but at the end of the day, Wilson should have the advantage as a playmaker.
KD Cannon/Lance Lenoir/Deonte Thompson/ etc: Now it is tough to really part ways with any of these wide receivers as I see promise in all of them. KD Cannon’s addition to the roster had me endlessly excited however the Cowboys may have added too many of the same player.
Thompson, Cannon, and Austin all play very similar roles. They all can be used as return men, on jet sweeps, and gadget plays. So obviously the team cannot keep all of them. Let’s also not forget the other receivers involved in the mix such as Malik Earl, they would have to beat out Lance Lenoir or Cedrick Wilson and I just do not see that happening.
Practice squad is the best bet for most of these players, and unless Thompson is gearing up for the best season of his career I really do not see how he makes this roster. If the Cowboys designate Austin a running back then he could potentially make it to the 53 however it will be a tough battle for everyone involved.
