Top Assist Scorer – John Klingberg

I am predicting that John Klingberg, who led defensemen in the NHL in assists last season, will continue his previous successes into this season.

Assuming his linemates are healthy (whether that be Methot or Lindell), Klinger will dish out another barrage of assists. While playing all 82 games last season, Klingberg notched a whopping 59 assists. Here are his assist totals from the seasons prior:

(2014-15): 29 assists in 65 games played

(2015-16): 48 assists in 76 games played

(2016-17) 36 assists in 80 games played

Whether or not Dallas makes trades with either the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, or any other team for that matter, John Klingberg will not falter in being able to produce points. Everyone knows that Dallas’ blue line struggled last season — Klingberg, on the other hand, didn’t. He makes everyone around him better, regardless of whether he is on a line with Methot, Lindell, or Stephen Johns.

Now with Heiskanen in the NHL (probably, although he might see some time in the AHL) and the rise of other young Dallas blueliners, Klingberg’s numbers should only get better and better.

John Klingberg’s stats have continued to improve since he joined the roster in 2014, and he has been one of Dallas’ best point scorers (especially in assists).

Don’t expect anything less from the Swedish stud this season.
