The Dallas Cowboys will begin training camp today marking the end of the offseason. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest questions facing the team.

The Dallas Cowboys will begin training camp in Oxnard California on July 25th. With camp so close it is important to look at some of the biggest and most urgent questions facing the franchise heading into the 2018 season.

Other then figuring out if they want to trade for Earl Thomas, the Cowboys will be forced to deal with some major questions and hopefully, they will find some critical answers during the grueling days of camp. With that in mind, let’s take a look at three big questions heading into training camp.

Wide receiver battles and offensive chemistry: Hands down, the wide receiver position will be the most watched and scrutinized position of training camp. With no clear cut number one wide receiver, the starting spots at the position are up for grabs.

The only receiver guaranteed a roster spot is seemingly Terrance Williams and that is only because it would cost money to move on from him. A lot of people are skeptical of this group but there are some incredibly hard-working players in this revamped receiving corps.

Ultimately it should come down to who has the most chemistry with quarterback Dak Prescott and who can prove to be the most reliable on the field. These battles will also feature some of the Dallas Cowboys most recent draft picks such as Michael Gallup and Cedrick Wilson so there will be some intrigue into seeing just what the rookies can do.

Who will break out of this group of hard-working players and can they be productive enough to lead the Cowboys through the air all season long? Training camp will likely give us the answer.

Starters in the secondary: The Dallas Cowboys will also need to figure out just what exactly is going on with their safety position as well. Can the team rely on the combination of Jeff Heath and Xavier Woods? Can Kameron Kelly find a role on this roster?

Will there be a new player who steps up and presses to start? Training camp battles will likely hash this out rather quickly as if there is a glaring hole at the position it should be obvious from day one.

At cornerback, the starting three are just as much up in the air. It is assumed that Byron Jones will get the nod as the starter on the outside, but where will Anthony Brown, Chidobe Awuzie, and Jourdan Lewis fit in?

Then there is the new defensive backs coach, Kris Richard, where will he fit into this equation and what plans does he hold for the future? If the Dallas Cowboys want stability in the secondary Richard is likely the guy that will bring that to the organization but does he have the tools to achieve that goal in his first season? Only time will tell how many of these questions are actually answered.

Who starts at defensive tackle? The Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle position is an absolute mess at this point. David Irving will miss four games due to suspension (again), and Maliek Collins will miss a lot of time thanks to injury. The starting job for both interior defensive line spots are wide open.

The team traded for Jihad Ward so they could have a plan in place for what they will attempt to do. The team could also move a player from defensive end inside as they look to find a temporary replacement for Collins.

A year ago, Tyrone Crawford would have been your guy however he has lost a lot of weight and will attempt to be a disruptive force off of the edge. Could Taco Charlton, Kony Ealy, or even Randy Gregory find a way to start on the inside?

Something in my gut tells me that Ward will be one of the biggest surprises of training camp as he should show enough talent to win a starting job.
