Mavs: A Review of the Southwest Division Teams’ Free Agency Moves
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have arguably had the most activity in the Southwest, having many players come and go since July 1st.
Additions/Re-Signings:
- C Salah Mejri
Salah Majri, who is from Tunisia, signed a one-year, $1.5 million dollar deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
In 61 games last year for the Dallas Mavericks, Mejri averaged 3.5 points and 4.0 rebounds. The 32-year-old has played for the Dallas Mavericks since 2015.
- Devin Harris, G
For the third time in his career, Devin Harris re-signed with the Dallas Mavericks. The contract, which is just a one year deal, is worth just under $2.4 million.
Harris played with the Denver Nuggets last year and averaged 8.2 points and 2.5 assists per game. He also shot 40.6 percent from the floor.
- DeAndre Jordan, C
The Dallas Mavericks biggest signing in free agency was DeAndre Jordan, former center for the Los Angeles Clippers. The Mavericks signed him to a one-year deal worth roughly $24.1 million dollars.

There was controversy a few years ago when Jordan was allegedly going to sign with the Dallas Mavericks. However, he pulled out of the deal and ended up resigning with the Clippers.
Last season with the Clippers, Jordan averaged 12.0 points and 15.2 rebounds per game. He also had a 64.5 field goal percentage.
Although fans are split on whether to be happy or not that Jordan is coming to Dallas, it’s evident that he will become one of the Mavs’ best players.
- SF Maarty Leunen
The Mavs acquired small forward Maarty Leunen in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for forward Jonathan Motley and guard Renaldas Seibutis.
Last season, Leunen played in Europe and averaged 7.4 points and 4.0 assists per game. He also shot about 50 percent from the floor.
- PF Dirk Nowitzki
Mavs legend, Dirk Nowitzki, resigned with Dallas on a one-year, $5 million dollar contract.
