Dallas Stars: 6 teams that will make the playoffs after missing them in 2017-18
With a new NHL season right around the corner, here are 6 teams (including the Dallas Stars) that will make the Stanley Cup Playoffs after missing them.
Like all professional sports, many teams in the NHL found themselves packing up for the offseason after the end of the 2017-18 regular season. With the NHL draft and free agency, though, a few teams got the extra help they were looking for to make themselves contenders in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Dallas Stars have been right at the cusp of a deep playoff run for some time now, this could be the year they turn things around.
After many fans (including me) were saddened that their favorite team was sent home early from last season, I thought it would be interesting to look at teams that will resurface in the postseason after not playing in it in the 2017-18 NHL season. Here are 5 teams that I think could punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Playoffs after missing it last season.
6. Dallas Stars
Last playoff run: 2007 (2016, lost in conference semi-finals to St. Louis Blues)
Number of Stanley Cups Won: 1
The first entry on this list is the NHL team closest to the DFW universe, the Dallas Stars. While the Dallas Stars have only won a single Stanley Cup the future is bright. The season started fairly well for the Dallas Stars however they would end up finishing with a record of 34 wins and 37 losses.
The Dallas Stars have acquired a ton of new players during the offseason.
- Signed Devin Shore to a two-year deal
- Signed Jason Dickinson to a one-year contract
- Signed Remi Elie to a one-year contract
- Signed Blake Comeau to a three-year contract
- Signed Valeri Nichushkin to a two-year deal
- Signed Anton Khudobin to a two-year contract
Offense
Benn-Seguin-Radulov
Roussel-Faksa-Pitlick
Ritchie-Elie-Spezza
Nichushkin-Comeau-Dickinson/Smith
Defense
Klingberg-Methot
Johns-Lindell
Honka-Lindell/Polak
Goalies

Anton Khudobin
The Dallas Stars were only seven wins away from the playoffs and have made some significant additions to their roster for the 2018 season. Surely the new crop of incoming talent should help get the Dallas Stars over the edge and back into the playoff race once again.
