The Dallas Cowboys finally participated in a meaningful NFL contest as they played their first preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers. Even though this game resulted in a fourth-quarter loss the most important things to take away here are how the players performed and what the bare bones of the Cowboys offense and defense looked like.

With that let’s take a look at some of the most important things that transpired during the Dallas Cowboys first preseason contest.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Dak Prescott has received some criticism during OTA’s and training camp as he has not thrown a ton of touchdowns. Actual gameplay though seems to lead to a different outcome.

Prescott during his only drive of the day completed three out of three passes for 39 yards and a highlight reel touchdown to rookie receiver Michael Gallup. He would also run the ball for 12 yards and a first down which showed just how competitive Prescott can be in any situation.

The touchdown itself was gorgeous and exactly what this offense needed to see this early in the preseason. One thing also became clear, when Prescott has time, he can complete any throw he wants.

For all of his critics, Dak is level-headed, poised, and ready to unleash his playmaking abilities on the NFC East. Finally, this offense looked like it did in 2016 and really that all rested on Prescott’s shoulders as he made the necessary plays to get the team down the field.
