Running Back/Full Back

LANDOVER, MD – OCTOBER 29: Running back Ezekiel Elliott
LANDOVER, MD – OCTOBER 29: Running back Ezekiel Elliott /

Ezekiel Elliott/Rod Smith/Bo Scarbrough/Jamize Olawale

This is somewhat of a similar situation to the quarterback dilemma however the Dallas Cowboys are actually expected to keep three running backs. Ezekiel Elliott and Rod Smith are locks to make this roster so that only leaves the question mark around the Dallas Cowboys seventh-round draft pick Bo Scarbrough.

So far he has recorded 33 rushing yards and a touchdown, not bad for a seventh-round rookie. He also is drawing more snaps than any other running back that has touched a football in preseason. The coaching staff has even started giving him reps with special teams as the front office continues to look for a way that Scarbrough can contribute when Elliott is taking 99.9 percent of the snaps on offense.

It seems to me that the Cowboys are more dedicated to finding a roster spot for Bo than any of the other backs behind him at this time. Realistically it is tough to see Darius Jackson becoming a legitimate threat to Scarbrough’s job at any given point.

Jamize Olawale is the player that the Dallas Cowboys front office knew could come in and take over so his spot has been relatively unchallenged. It stands to reason that he will come into the 2018 season as the teams starting fullback.
