Geoff Swaim/Blake Jarwin/Dalton Schultz

This is the position where the first real tough cut occurs. Rico Gathers has had a ton of optimism surrounding his NFL career up until August of 2017. Now he is barely getting any reps and appears to be on the bottom of the tight end pecking order.

No tight end has really established themselves as productive playmakers (yet) however the group of Geoff Swaim, Blake Jarwin, and Dalton Schultz has been fairly reliable. Swaim should be the starter as he is the “veteran” of the group.

Jarwin is the wild card who still has a lot to prove but should be primarily utilized as an offensive weapon. Schultz is one of the Dallas Cowboys higher picks so he is not a throw away player. Some reports have him exhibiting similar traits as Jason Witten and since he is a rookie there is a lot of room for improvement.

Gathers just seems to be the odd man out with this group, he has not stayed healthy and has not made a big enough impact on the field to justify him holding a roster spot at this time.
