The defensive end position may just be one of the deepest on the roster for the Dallas Cowboys as their pass rush has looked fantastic so far this preseason. Dorance Armstrong is easily a diamond in the rough and should have a major impact during the 2018 campaign. Demarcus Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford, and Taco Charlton should continue to have major roles along the defensive line.

Charlton specifically has looked like a completely different player during training camp. He has bulked up and has worked on his pass rushing technique quite a bit. Charlton should push for the opportunity to start along the edge in 2018.

Charles Tapper is somewhat of a question mark for me however I think the front office thinks highly enough of his abilities to keep him on the roster as a depth piece. If he can stay healthy then we can talk him having a bigger role on defense but until then he will remain on the bubble.

I am calling this one right now, Randy Gregory is a lock to make the 53 man roster. He has flashed to many great pass rushing traits to ignore his talent. Plus his comeback is something that disappointed Cowboy fans have at the very least been dreaming about for quite some time.

Expect the former Nebraska pass rusher to run with the second team for most of the season. The defensive tackle position is the weak point of this defensive line as starter David Irving will be suspended for the first four games of the season. That leaves Datone Jones and Jihad Ward manning the middle.

Ward has looked fantastic during practice and should play a major role in clogging up the holes for opposing running backs. Jones is reliable and has the experience to get the job done but I doubt that he will make major waves this season.

Brian Price and Antwaun Woods have been fantastic during camp. This does not mean that their abilities will translate into an actual game but expect them to be the primary defensive tackle backups.
