The Dallas Cowboys might lose All Pro center Travis Frederick for the season, and they are dangerously thin at safety. It’s time for this team to make a trade for Earl Thomas.

Since being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, the Dallas Cowboys are in jeopardy of losing All Pro center Travis Frederick for at least several weeks and possibly even the entire season. On top of that, All Pro guard Zach Martin is dealing with a hyperextended knee.

The safety position isn’t much better. Injuries and depth are a concern, to say the least. It’s time the Dallas Cowboys did something. Something to improve the roster to make up for these concerns.

It’s time for this team to make a trade for Earl Thomas. Period. End of discussion. There’s nothing else to talk about.

With the Cowboys facing so many issues on both sides of the ball, this team needs to make a trade for Thomas to upgrade its defense and offset the loss of Frederick.

Listen, the Cowboys foundation is its offensive line, and right now it’s dealing with the loss of the best center in the NFL and Martin’s lingering knee injury.

Now the safety position is feeling the loss of Xavier Woods with a hamstring injury (not expected to play week one); Kavon Frazier has a separated shoulder, and Jeff Heath is dealing an ankle injury.

Ditto the rest of the backups on the safety depth chart. They can’t do anything of importance to help. That’s why a trade for Thomas is imminent.

There’s no need to for Dallas to waiver on the decision, they don’t need to worry about how much to pay Thomas, and all of the other nonsense. Dallas needs to give up a second rounder or more to make it happen ASAP.

Even with DeMarcus Lawrence,  Randy Gregory and Taco Charlton—Dallas needs a player of Thomas’caliber on their defense to make it dominant. If Dallas’ offensive line isn’t as dominant, at least it can point to its defense as another cornerstone of the team.

More from Dallas Cowboys

If Dallas’ defense is as good as everyone believes it will be, then Thomas will only make it better and take it to top-5 status. With DLaw, Gregory, and Charlton coming off of the edges, opposing quarterbacks will either take a sack or hurry their passes.

Those passes will be intercepted by the best safety in the league or by some of the best up and coming corners in the game (Chidobe Awuzie and Byron Jones). With Thomas roaming half the field like a center fielder, this will allow Awuzie to play man coverage on opposing team’s best receivers.

So what do you think Thomas will be doing while Awuzie locks down a receiver? The future Hall of Famer can make plays at will and give the ball back to Dallas’ offense.

dark. Next. How the Dallas Cowboys must overcome their known unknowns

This scenario will come in handy when Dallas plays the evil New York Giants (Odell Beckham, Jr) and Philadelphia Eagles (Alshon Jeffery and Carson Wentz).

So Jerry Jones, go ahead and make the trade for Thomas before its too late.
