We’re expecting good things from the Dallas Cowboys this season so let’s take a look at who we expect to make the Pro Bowl.

The Dallas Cowboys are going to surprise some people this season both on an individual and team level. Who are the writers at Sport DFW expecting to make the Pro Bowl? Let’s take a look…

Reid: Ezekiel Elliott is going to lead the NFL in rushing and have his best season as a receiver as well. So he’s pretty much a lock to make the Pro Bowl this season and he’s my pick for NFL MVP this season (even though he doesn’t play quarterback).

Zack Martin and Tyron Smith are going to have typical Pro Bowl seasons as well. I believe La’el Collins will get some votes but fall just short this year. No receiver or tight end will make the cut because this offense is designed to spread the ball around. Dak Prescott will bounce back but this run-heavy offense isn’t going to feature passing enough for him to make the Pro Bowl cut.

On defense we’re going to see DeMarcus Lawrence and Sean Lee get well-deserved selections. But I also think Jaylon Smith is going to get selected. Smith is going to be used more as a pass-rusher this season and will log the most snaps of all the Dallas Cowboys linebackers. His gaudy stats and feel-good story will make him the talk of the NFL.

The Dallas Cowboys dominant pass-rush led by Tank, David Irving, and Randy Gregory are going to deliver Pro Bowl seasons to Byron Jones and Chidobe Awuzie. Those two CBs will be the first pair the Cowboys have had since 2009.

That’s eight Dallas Cowboys, made nine, when Chris Jones gets selected as punter.

Jason: Five Cowboys will make the Pro Bowl this season: Ezekiel Elliott, Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Sean Lee.

Dink:  DLaw, Chidobe Awuzie, Sean Lee, Randy Gregory, Zeke, Dak, Michael Gallup, Zach Martin and La’el Collins will make the Pro Bowl.

Dan: The defense should see its fair share of Pro Bowl candidates with Sean Lee, DeMarcus Lawrence, Jaylon Smith, and Chidobe Awuzie leading the way. On offense Ezekiel Elliott and most of the starters on the offensive line will certainly be Pro Bowl caliber players. I would not count out Jamzie Olawale or Tyrone Crawford as sleepers either.

Who will be the Dallas Cowboys top rookie this season?

Jason: Michael Gallup. The former CSU Ram will have plenty of opportunities to prove himself in a shaky wide receiver group, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him finish top-2 on the team in catches, yards, and touchdowns.

Dan: Michael Gallup

Reid: I’m going to break from the norm and say guard Connor Williams. The former Texas left tackle had an up and down preseason but I believe that when all is said and done, he’ll be the top performing rookie. Gallup will get the highlights, but Williams will play twice as many snaps and play them well.

First rounder Leighton Vander Esch will get eased into this thing. Jaylon Smith is playing so well it doesn’t make much sense to displace him for the greenhorn.
