The Dallas Cowboys defeated their mortal enemies in the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football. Let’s take a look at what went down.

The Dallas Cowboys scored a big victory on Sunday Night Football against their arch-rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys came into this game off of what was at one time considered their worst loss in recent memory. Oh, how a week can change things, as Dallas now look to be in the driver seat when it comes to their destiny in the NFC East. Let’s take a look at what went down.

You could tell the atmosphere for this game was a little bit different as during pregame warmups, both teams got into a minor scrum that only fueled what would be a hard-hitting contest.

Things started out slow as they usually do in NFC East matchups, but the one thing that was clear early on was that Dallas was not afraid to take risks in this contest. After two punts, finally, we got some excitement as Carson Wentz threw an interception to Leighton Vander-Esch.

Zack Martin would be injured early in the first quarter, however, would eventually come back in during the next Dallas Cowboys offensive drive. It was a fairly scary situation which forced Adam Redmond into action early on.

Redmond and Xavier Su’a-Filo came in and did an outstanding job for the Dallas Cowboys. That depth along the offensive line was not seen at all during the 2017 season. Early in the second quarter, the Dallas Cowboys faced a fourth down that really would have killed their momentum if not for some ambitious play calling from Jason Garrett.

Jeff Heath was lined up as a blocker in the punt formation and took a direct snap to get Dallas a fresh set of downs. It was an incredibly inventive and aggressive play from a coach who has not been that inspiring this season.

At around six minutes into the second quarter, the air was let out of the Eagles stadium as Ezekiel Elliott hurdled an Eagles defensive back that had the whole crowd and announce team stunned. It was the most impressive hurdle of his NFL career and easily one of his biggest highlights. The Eagles would mysteriously challenge the spot of a short Dak Prescott run that realistically only resulted in a yard being taken away.

This drive led to the second Brett Maher field goal of the first half. The Eagles would storm down the field resulting in their first points of the night, however, this was indicative of some of the back and forth action we would see in the second half.

Dak Prescott led the Dallas Cowboys offense down the field and leaped into the end zone for the Cowboys first touchdown of the contest. The Eagles came out hot to start the second half, knocking brutally knocking Prescott to the turf. The game itself would remain 13-6 until the final two minutes of the third quarter.

Wentz would finally throw a touchdown strike to Zach Ertz which evened the game up at 13 a piece. The Cowboys and Eagles would trade touchdowns until midway through the fourth quarter. With the game tied, Ezekiel Elliott would take control and put the game away with his effort.

Even with it coming down to a clutch defensive stand during the waning seconds of this contest, Elliott was the heartbeat for this football team once again. Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander-Esch had star-studded games as well, specifically LVE who made some clutch plays for the Dallas Cowboys defense.

So what does this all mean? Well, it appears it means that the Cowboys playoff hopes are very much alive but they need to continue this productive trend as next week they take on the Atlanta Falcons.

If any team gave Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense ghosts last season it was Atlanta. They brutalized Dak and showed just how thin the Cowboys offensive line was. Expect Dallas to come out swinging in Week Eleven as well.
