The Stars have been able to maintain a decent record so far this season despite a lack of offensive and defensive depth due to injuries. Here are five prospects in the Stars’ organization to pay attention to as new up-and-comers.

(Note: Young players who have recently cracked the Dallas Stars’ lineup such as Roope Hintz, Denis Gurainov, or Miro Heiskanen are excluded from this report.)

Stats in 2018-19: 23 G | 18 A | 41 P | 25 GP | 20 PIM | +3 +/-

Stats in 2017-18 (with the Kingston Frontenacs): 41 G | 46 A | 87 P | 68 GP | 36 PIM | +8 +/-

Left-winger Jason Roberton, who was drafted by the Stars in the second round (39th overall) has leaped to a strong start in what will be his final season of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in Canada. He started his fourth year with the Kingston Frontenacs of his OHL career and played 24 games with them, registering 38 points (23 G, 15 A), 18 penalty minutes, and a +1 plus/minus rating.

While with Kingston, Robertson finished last season seventh in the OHL in points with 87, sixth in goals with 41, and tied for first in overtime goals with 4.

Robertson is second in the OGL in goals with 24, just one goal behind Tye Felhaber (of the Ottawa 67’s), who has 25. Robertson, an Arcadia, California native, is first in power-play goals with 9 and first in shots with 139.

Robertson was traded to the Niagara IceDogs on Nov. 20. He recorded three assists in his first game with Niagara.

Here is Robertson’s statement on being traded from Kingston to Niagara:

Kingston has had problems finding the win column so far this year, sitting at last in the OHL’s Eastern Conference with a 7-18-1 record, while Niagara is fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 13-7-4 record.
