Team: Boston University (NCAA)

Stats in 2018-19: 2.98 GAA | .910 SV% | 10 GP

Stats in 2017-18: 2.45 GAA | .915 SV% | 38 GP

Lakeville, Minnesota native Jake Oettinger is entering his third season at Boston University. His first season, as a freshman, he registered a 2.11 GAA and a .927 save percentage in 35 games. The year prior, he represented the United States at the 18-U World Juniors, where he recorded a 1.50 GAA and a .934 save percentage in four games. Oettinger also played at the World Juniors this past summer, where he notched a 2.77 GAA and a .889 save percentage in three contests.

Oettinger was drafted by the Stars as the 26th overall pick in the 2017 draft to compliment blue liner Miro Heiskanen in the Stars’ 2017 draft class. It is unclear whether or not Oettinger will forgo his final year at Boston next season or stay for his senior year.

Dallas Stars status update:

The Dallas Stars have moved into the second quarter of the season and sit in a depressingly low position within the division. Their 26 points are well shy of Nashville’s division leading 35, and the Dallas Stars are narrowly clinging to a seven seed within the conference.

On a roster that’s fairly stout, there’s plenty of time for the Dallas Stars to get things done and move up the standings. But with consistency plaguing the team, it’s tough to tell which way the Stars will fall this winter.
