The Dallas Cowboys are coming off their biggest victory in quite some time as they defeated the New Orleans Saints on Thursday. So what’s next for Big D?

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off of the most unexpected victory of the season as they beat the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football. The Saints were coming off of a ten game winning streak while Dallas had won three straight.

The amount of points the Saints offense has generated over the last four weeks (minus this game) has been astronomical. Drew Brees was far and away the top MVP candidate of the 2018 season. Now while not much has changed from a football perspective the Cowboys have a ton of momentum heading into the tail end of the season. But what is up next for Dallas? Well, a date with a hated divisional rival is on the dance card.

The Philadelphia Eagles are currently 5-6 heading into their rivalry matchup with the Washington Redskins in Week 13. Depending on the outcome of that game, the Dallas Cowboys could see the Redskins breathing down their necks or the Eagles on the brink of a resurgence.

Realistically, the Cowboys would want Washington to win this game just to help neutralize their biggest threat in the division.

More from Dallas Cowboys

The Redskins defense has been solid but their offense has a ceiling now that Colt McCoy is their starting quarterback. Carson Wentz has not been great this season but he still may be the best quarterback in the NFC East (besides Dak Prescott, sometimes).

The Dallas Cowboys may not want the easiest road to the playoffs but it would certainly help given that their remaining schedule is not exactly a cake walk. But for now, let’s take it a game at a time and focus on the birds.

The Eagles would essentially be out of playoff contention with a loss to Dallas and with that comes some added energy to get the job done. This urgency that this Cowboy team has shown since their loss to the Tennessee Titans must continue for the remainder of the schedule.

That urgency has been the difference in winning close games and losing them. The Eagles should feel as urgent as any other team as they are running out of time to correct their course. They sit at third place in the NFC East and a win would just muddle things even further as they would be tied with the Redskins 6-6.

In their final string of games, the Eagles face both the Los Angeles Rams and the Houston Texans so they may have the most difficult path to a playoff berth. Washington will face the Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars in addition to a spattering of NFC East rivals to close out the season.

The Giants are not mathematically eliminated either however they will also face some tough opponents as they have to play the Chicago Bears on the road and the Colts in Week 16.

Next. Should the Dallas Mavericks pursue Draymond Green?. dark

This win for the Dallas Cowboys essentially puts them in the driver’s seat for the NFC East crown and if they can keep up this level of play potentially a whole lot more.
