With a month left of the regular season, the Dallas Cowboys are already starting to ramp up draft prep in the scouting department. Let’s take a break and look at a way too early mock draft.

After hitting what looks like a home run with Leighton Vander Esch, Dallas Cowboys fans are already drooling over the possibilities next spring in the NFL Draft. Things will be different this time around since Dallas traded their first round pick for Amari Cooper over the bye week.

Some luster will be lost without the first round pick in the bag so that’s why it’s imparitive we dig into the draft early and make sure we hit in the later rounds.

With their defense that has ramped up to be elite, there are a few things the Cowboys can start scouting now. We don’t know what free agency will bring, we don’t know if there will be any more injuries, and we don’t know if the entire coaching staff will stay in place. So as of the first week of December, let’s look at where we stand.

As usual I used Fanspeak’s draft simulator. I ran 10 different drafts, did not allow trades, used a combination of draft boards and my own watching of players. The most often drafted player is the name you see, and I went with best player available. If it seemed silly that a certain player would be there or an obvious non-need, I went with the next best player. So, without further delay, let’s start the draft.

Yes, it’s early. And yes, things will change. But as things stand now this is what it looks like:
