Dallas Cowboys 2019 Mock Draft: Way Too Early Mock
Round 7 – Darrell Henderson – Running Back – Memphis
If there is one thing the Cowboys could always use is depth at running back. Sure Elliott is the alpha, but there just isn’t a ton behind him. Rod Smith is locked into the backup role, but after them it is a mix of injuries (if we believe Tavon Austin is the third back) and practice squad players. Adding another player to the mix can not hurt and Henderson will most likely not make it to the undrafted rookie list.
Henderson has had a sneaky good season for Memphis. Boasting an 8.9 yards per carry, 22 touchdowns, and a 22.4% percent broken tackle rate. Yet, he will probably not see his stock as high as it should be. The knock on Henderson is he isn’t a 4.4 runner, doesn’t have ideal size, and won’t make guys miss consistently. What he does have is really good vision, football IQ, and balance that rivals any running back in college.
He could go as high as the fourth or fifth round, but for now there is a lot of sleeping on Henderson. A quarterback could be grabbed here as could more help on either line, but if Henderson is there in the seventh, it wouldn’t be silly to let him slip by.
