Damien Wilson
SAM Linebacker
Damien Wilson, 26, has flashed potential from time to time but has failed to ever breakout like the Dallas Cowboys hoped he would. It’s likely the team will let Wilson leave uncontested in free agency and fill his role as SAM with a younger and cheaper option.

Rod Smith
Running back
As the RB2, Rod Smith has the truly uninspiring job of backing up the NFL’s leading rusher. Since being the NFL’s leading rusher means the player is both talented and durable, his back-up is not a job for anyone with RB1 dreams.
RB2 Rod Smith is a #Cowboys free agent and may want to move to another team with better opportunity (Zeke led the NFL with 304 attempts). But unlike Troy Hambrick who ran Emmitt out of town, Smith doesn’t appear to have delusions of grandeur and may be content playing 2nd fiddle.

Smith didn’t do enough in 2018 to be handed the RB2 role again in 2019 and I imagine even if re-signed he’ll need to compete for a job in 2019. Simply being a good soldier (and Jaylon Smith’s brother) may warrant a contract offer, but I expect the Dallas Cowboys to invest in other RB talent this year and will make it hard for Smith to repeat as RB2
