Miami Heat

The Heat have played Justice Winslow at PG the last month and the results have been better than expected. Winslow hadn’t shot the ball particularly well his first 3 years in the league, but this year he’s been quite a bit better. According to ESPN, he’s shooting 42.9% from the field and 38.3% from 3.

The rise of Justice Winslow at PG makes the Heat less likely to trade for a PG, but with Goran Dragic out, having valuable depth could help them. When Winslow needs a break or isn’t playing well, Dennis Smith could fill in and play like he did last year, as the primary ball handler.

The Heat are one of the best defensive teams in the league in need of a scorer, so a trade for Dennis Smith could really help the teams offense. Throw in Wes Matthews and the Heat have two scorers with good defense. But who could Dallas get in exchange?

How about Josh Richardson and Dion Waters? Recently, Waiters has voiced his frustration about his lack of playing time and coming to Dallas might help ease his frustrations. He isn’t the best scorer but certainly is a serviceable SG.

Josh Richardson has taken major strides the last two seasons into a really good 3 and D wing player. Scoring at 37.5% from 3 according to ESPN would help the Mavs with their scoring and his defense would solidify the Mavs at the wing position along with Harrison Barnes.

A starting lineup of:

Jalen Brunson, Josh Richardson, Harrison Barnes, Luka Doncic, and Deandre Jordan

OR

Luka Doncic, Dion Waiters, Josh Richardson, Harrison Barnes, and Deandre Jordan would make the offensive significantly better while continuing to establish themselves as one of the better defensive teams in the league. While this would be fun to see, this is probably the least likely to happen.
