Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers have played surprisingly well this season getting All-Star level production from Tobias Harris and getting legitimate production from Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell, and Danilo Gallinari. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is proving he’s a capable on and off-ball scorer giving the Clippers hope that he can be a franchise piece.

With this group, the Clippers don’t need the services of Dennis Smith Jr but they could be significantly better with him. With Gilgeous-Alexander having the flexibility of playing as a combo guard, Smith could play the point while Gilgeous-Alexander slides to the 2 position.

More from Dallas Mavericks

In exchange, the Mavs could get Patrick Beverley and Jerome Robinson. Beverley is still one of the best defensive point guards in the league and has the ability to play off-ball on offense. This could bode well for the Mavs as Doncic is the primary ball handler and Doncic still has issues guarding more athletic opponents.

Jerome Robinson is a young talent who was surprisingly polished coming out of Boston College.

He is an all around good player who didn’t have the athleticism of a Zhaire Smith or even a Gilgeous-Alexander, but his all-around ability will allow him to play in this league for a long time.

Dennis Smith and Luka haven’t played for a season yet so there is plenty of time to figure out who these two can fit with each other. The combination of a pass first stretch 4 and a smaller athletic point guard is a combination many teams would love to have. Hopefully the Mavs coaching staff can fix this for years to come.
