2. Jakob Silfverberg, RW – Anaheim Ducks

A player who hasn’t been widely talked about in trade talks either around the league or in Dallas is Ducks’ forward Jakob Silfverberg.

Silfverberg, who was actually drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 2009, didn’t play for the Anaheim Ducks until 2013. He was drafted in early in the second round of the 2009 NHL Draft and made his regular season debut in the 2012-13 season with the Sens, where he recorded 10 goals and 19 points in 48 games (due to the 2012-13 NHL Lockout).

Silfverberg only played one season for the Senators before he was traded to the Ducks in the deal that sent Bobby Ryan to Canada.

Interestingly enough, Silfverberg has been in the playoffs every season he has been in the league (he played in the 2011-12 postseason despite not playing in the regular season that year)—twice with Ottawa and five times with Anaheim. With seven playoff runs and 45 postseason points under his belt, Silfverberg could make for a good forward to add to the Stars’ offense.

The Stars have already made a deal once with the Ducks this season, sending fan-favorite forward Devin Shore to California in exchange for veteran Iron Man Andrew Cogliano. If the Stars wanted Silfverberg, they could look at trading a few depth guys that have potential but have not had tons of success this season. Brett Ritchie, for one, has only played in 26 games this season and been on the outskirts of the Stars’ forward group. Ritchie’s brother, Nick, is on the Ducks with Shore. Dallas could also look to trade Valeri Nichushkin if they wanted to; the big Russian only has seven assists in 37 games played.

Either way, Silfverberg would be a good addition to the Stars if Dallas can make Anaheim an attractive offer.
