Winners:
Andy Isabella, WR- UMASS
Isabella was become a recently trendy name for those eyeing a wide receiver in Day 2. He’s an exemplary route runner with fantastic quickness and deceptive speed. Also worth noting, he is good at catching footballs. At the Senior Bowl, he put on nothing but a clinic with 7 receptions for 74 yards and 1 TD according to ESPN.
This game cemented Isabella’s production and value in the pros as he was the most consistent receiver in Mobile. At UMASS, Isabella played as an outside receiver, but this week the coaching staff moved him to the slot. That clearly wasn’t an issue as he was the leader in every stat category.
Draft Grade: 2nd round
Charles Omenihu, DE- Texas
A defensive end standing at 6′ 5 5/8″ with 36.5″ arms is pretty easy to buy into as a pass rusher. The only thing keeping scouts from raving about Omenihu was his lack of production/presence. After a very good season at Texas, he continued his strong performance with several tackles for loss while providing constant pressure to the opposing QB.
It wasn’t necessary for Omenihu to deliver this type of performance, but how he looked against Andre Dillard and Javon Patterson can only be beneficial. If Omenihu tests well at the Combine, you can be sure his name will be popular among defensive linemen in this class.
Draft Grade: Early 2nd round
Hunter Renfrow, WR – Clemson
It seems Hunter Renfrow and Winner are interchangeable, so it should come as no surprise to see him on this list. In all seriousness, Renfrow made some impressive catches. Not only did he make some impressive catches, he ended with 5 receptions for 63 yards. The man was there when you needed a catch to be made.
One of the bigger concerns for Renfrow coming out of college were his athleticism and his hands which measured in at 7-3/4″. (I think my hands are a half inch bigger. I know it’s a weird flex but I didn’t win two national championships like him.) In Mobile, Renfrow disproved those quickly with an impressive punt return and two impressive catches with throws from Grier and Jackson
Renfrow is a hard worker and is talented so it should be no surprise if he continues to win and prove his doubters wrong at the next level. I suppose it’d be coincidental if he ended up in New England?
Draft Grade: 4th – 5th Round
Dalton Risner, OT – Kansas State
Things really couldn’t have gone better for the 6’5″ 308 lb tackle from Manhattan. His direct opposition was Montez Sweat and for the most part made the highly advertised Mississippi State edge rusher a non-factor this game. Along with his All Big 12 accolades, this Senior Bowl performance should make Risner a coveted OT in a rather strong tackle class.
Risner has the size and the mobility to play OT at the next level and wherever he ends up, he will most certainly be a plug and play starter for any team in need of an offensive lineman.
