Moore is only 29 years old and he played in a High Octane Offense

In 2017, the LA Rams hired Sean McVay as their Head Coach and two years into his tenure, he has changed the way teams are approaching coaching vacancies. Nowadays, teams are looking for young offensive coordinators to lead their team in a scoring driven league. Moore fits that mold.

Moore is only one year removed from hanging up the cleats and was the QB coach in his first season off the field. Even if he isn’t as experienced as a coach, he provides a perspective that Garrett and other older coaches simply can’t provide at this stage of their careers.

Also, people like to link Moore with Linehan because he has followed the OC around ever since he joined the league, but the same could be said about his connection to Chris Petersen. Moore was at Boise State for 5 years before the NFL and he was the best Boise State QB during Peterson’s tenure.

Petersen is known for having the most diverse offense of any coach in college. He loves to throw players around in different places to confuse defenses while running simple concepts. In comparison to the NFL, Sean McVay uses misdirection and jet sweeps to pull linebackers one direction while running a dive or an off tackle that most teams would run.

The likelihood of the Cowboys pulling something similar to this is very unlikely, however, this shouldn’t dissuade you from the idea that Moore can bring some creativity. In an era where teams are running receivers with the hope of creating space for QBs to throw to them, Kellen might be able to incorporate his IQ with Garrett’s run first philosophy.

Of course, the big “if” in this argument is how much Jason Garrett will have control over the offense. Even if Moore brings some creativity as a mind, Garrett still has the final say when putting the playbook together.

This same logic applies to Linehan’s tenure as the OC. When Linehan coached in Detroit, Detroit would pass in multitude. According to Pro Football Reference, outside of his first two seasons, the Lions threw for over 4600 yards every season. Ever since his arrival to Dallas, the Cowboys haven’t had a 4,000 yard passer. (Pretty insane given how remarkable Romo played in 2014)

This is quite important to consider because it brings me to my next point.
