Isaac Nauta, Tight End, Georgia

I know I’ve mentioned it in an article before and I’m sure other people have as well, but this tight end class has value in every round. The Cowboys are out of luck on the TJ Hockenson sweepstakes and are probably selecting too late for Irv Smith Jr and Noah Fant. It so happens the next two best tight ends are from the SEC.

Nauta was popular on the recruiting trails out of high school and he lived up to the hype at Georgia. He’s built nicely at 6’4″ and 240 lbs and is uber athletic. He does everything that a tight end should be able to do and he is surprisingly athletic. He’s fast and will out run anyone in the open field.

He was severely underutilized at Georgia. In his junior year he caught 30 passes for 430 yards and 3 TDs. However, a consistent theme with the Georgia offense is all their receiving weapons are underutilized. (Just ask Riley Ridley and MeCole Hardman)

The Cowboys could be in need of a tight end if they choose not to re-sign Swaim. If they get Nauta, that would be a way nicer consolation prize. Nauta would be the most athletic tight end on the roster and he was a good blocker in college.

Nauta has high upside and if he learns under Nussmeier, not only would it help him but the Cowboys as well. Usually, it takes a while for tight ends to develop into legitimate starters but Dallas would be an ideal spot for Nauta to develop quickly and make an immediate impact for this offense.
