Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft: All the rounds, all the fun (Reid 2.0)

Despite not picking until the second round, the Dallas Cowboys have a good chance at picking up some key building blocks in this year’s NFL Draft, follow along…

Just because the Dallas Cowboys don’t pick until the second round, does not mean the NFL Draft is any less interesting. That’s because the depth of this draft perfectly coincides with the needs of our favorite franchise.

Tight end and defensive tackle aren’t just the top strengths of this class – they’re also the two headliners on the Dallas Cowboys “Needs List” this offseason. As such, value is to be had later in the draft and the Cowboys stand to find some steals if they stay patient and play the draft board right

Rules of the Mock Draft

Once again, I used Fanspeak’s mock draft simulator (about 30 times to gauge what are trends and what is realistic). Using NFL Mocks’ most recent player rankings and simulating on Fanspeak’s difficult setting, I set out to find somewhat realistic results. For instance: If a highly ranked player fell unrealistically far on a couple simulations, I didn’t pick him for this Dallas Cowboys mock draft.

Since the NFL Combine hasn’t even taken place yet, player rankings are all over the board depending on which scouting site you visit. For the sake of realism, I attempted to find some consensus rankings on most players.

It’s also worth noting, I’m not a scout. I watch the film, sure, but I’m not under the delusion my conclusions are worth any more than a proven scout’s. That’s why I also use one of my favorite scouting sites, The Draft Network, to help with profile players. After each pick I included a link to their profiles along with the fit on the Cowboys.
