Upcoming Week Preview

The Stars play the second game of their road trip on Tuesday night against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Las Vegas is in third place in the Pacific with 69 points (32-26-5). The Golden Knights are 3-6-1 in their last ten but they made a blockbuster trade yesterday afternoon to acquire Mark Stone from the Ottawa Senators.

Stone, 26, has 28 goals and 62 points in 59 games this year with Ottawa. HIs first game in a Vegas uniform will be against Dallas, and will look to help increase the Golden Knight’s offensive output for the remainder of the season.

After Tuesday’s game against Vegas, Dallas will stay in the Pacific Division and travel to Los Angeles to play a struggling Kings team.

Los Angeles (23-32-7—53) has the worst record in the Western Conference and the second-worst record in the league, with the Ottawa Senators (22-35-5—49) being the only team with fewer points. Los Angeles is 2-5-3 in their last ten games. Dallas is 1-1 against the Kings this season, beating them 4-2 at home back in February and losing 2-1 at home on Jan. 17. Thursday’s game will be the final regular-season meeting between the two clubs.

To finish the road trip, Dallas will head to Missouri to play against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. St. Louis, who has played extremely well in 2019, has hiked to third place in the Central Division (33-23-6—72). St. Louis is posting an impressive +10 goal differential and is 8-1-1 in their last ten contests thanks to the aforementioned 11-game win streak.

The Stars are 32-26-5 and are still in fourth place in the Central Division with 67 points. Minnesota and Colorado are breathing down Dallas’ neck with 66 points each, and Chicago has rebounded with 61 points to sit in last in the Central.

Doctor’s Office: Benn day-to-day with an upper-body injury

After leaving Saturday’s game with an upper-body injury, captain Jamie Benn is “day-to-day,” according to Stars’ Inside Edge Mark Stepneski.

Benn has 21 goals and 41 points this season.

Trade Deadline: Nill quiet on deadline day despite Zuccarello injury

After the Stars’ announced that Mats Zuccarello would be out for four weeks with a broken arm, there were reports that Jim Nill had reentered the trade arena on Monday.

As the 3 p.m. EST deadline passed, however, the Stars did not make a trade.

"“We sat pat today,” Nill told Saad Yousuf of The Athletic on Monday. “We were in a lot of discussions but in the end, we made a lot of our moves a couple days ago and some prior moves than that so we got to a point where we’re comfortable where we’re at and move forward from here.”"

Roster Moves: Stars call up Gurianov from Texas (AHL)

The Dallas Stars called up Denis Gurianov from the Texas Stars (AHL) on Monday after they decided to not make a move. Gurianov will fill Zuccarello’s spot in the roster while he recovers. The Russian has one goal and four points this season across a span of 19 games for Dallas.
